Thanks, Sandra. Lots to chew on there! You're right about good beat and catchy -- seems to be a big part of the formula. I'm still amazed, though, when I figure a song is a can't-miss with the kids and it does nothing for them. I'm batting about .500 I think.

Depends on the kid (their tastes), age & yours. But what I found is consistent is that it has a good beat & catchy. Think that helps them feel involved. So:

Katy Perry - Last Friday Night, Hot N Cold
Queen - various, test out a few songs with them
The Sound of Sunshine - Michael Franti & Spearhead
Rooney - I can't get enough
Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello
Matt Costa - Mr. Pitiful
Two Hours Traffic - Jezebel
Rachel Yamagata - Worn me Down
Eels - Fresh Feeling (*SLW - even if they don't love it, you will!)
Brooks & Dunn - My Maria
Faith Hill - The Way You Love Me
Petula Clark - Downtown; I know a Place
Ingrid Michaelson - The Way I Am
Rusted Root - Send me on my Way
Nikki & Rich - Cat & Mouse
Regina Spektor - Hotel Song; On the Radio
Jill Barber - Hard Line

Hope this helps!

This could be perceived as being very homophobic. It is very similar to their problem with Planet of The Apes. Buyers were suggested movies with African Americans if they had bought POTA.
